Michael Scully
LLB, B.Ec (Hons)
Michael was admitted to practice in 1983, and he has an extensive background in commercial, property and hospitality law. He is an acknowledged authority on liquor and gaming law, having been involved in many landmark decisions in these areas.
Michael was the driving force behind the development of the licensing and gaming practice at Williams Winter Solicitors, the firm at which Michael was a partner for twenty years prior to commencing Bazzani Scully Brand. He brings that substantial experience to Bazzani Scully Brand.
Michael’s practice includes working with some of the largest hotel groups in Victoria and he has been involved in many large and complex commercial transactions relating to the buying and selling of licensed businesses and/or associated freeholds. He has significant experience in negotiating commercial and retail leases and general commercial conveyancing.
He also acts on behalf of many individual hoteliers and has developed strong ongoing relationships with his clients. Michael’s practice also includes acting on behalf of a many of licensed clubs ranging from AFL clubs to country sporting clubs.
He has acted on behalf of many licensees, the subject of disciplinary proceedings under the Liquor Control Reform Act at VCAT
Michael also conducts many applications on behalf of his clients at the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation and Liquor Licensing Victoria and often appears on behalf of his clients before those bodies. This experience has ensured he can offer the most up to date and relevant advice to clients dealing with these organisations.
